This is why I don't lecture about market segmentation, even though I do it in my business out of necessity.

The truth is, people vote with their pockets, and these bruh moments are reflected in a loss of sales or higher rates of return.

You're rightfully disgusted.

I assume the reason why so many 17" laptops come with 900p screens is that they are marketed to old people who want stuff to be BIG on the screen by default.

I had this laptop and it was blazing fast. The screen wasn't top notch but was OK for YouTube and watching movies. It was very light at 2.2 kg + very good battery life. Don't let the 900p hold you back. It's not aweful.

On the other hand, had to return it coz of a defective track pad.

You are right. I could surf without glasses on the Ideapad 17.

Throwing a good screen on this puts it close to 4 figures, so......big blocky screen it is to move some out the door.

I disagree, but I appreciate the feedback. It might add $50 to $100 to the cost, including margin. This is about segmentation, and I'm suggesting consumer behavior will eventually win the day here.

The 108 PPI is pretty rough. Tolerable to my eyes, but many wouldn't be satisfied.

Sure.

Tolerable for many things, even spreadsheets. The Microsoft Cleartype feature really helps.

You'll be fine, but what I'm saying is heresy to others on RFD.
