Onsite and extended warranties are affordably priced. Worth considering.

Decent enough even when compared to last week's blowout sale on the HP Pavilion gaming 15 ($730 w/ a mouse bundle).

$160 for a 1TB HDD, upgraded GPU (ti vice vanilla), and 120hz screen sounds fair to me. (I managed to grab one of the HPs).

Anyone know if the HDD is a replacable SATA slot? got some spare SSD SATA's

also, i remember reading this, probably on RFD, but "gaming" ideapads are just business laptops with a graphics card in it, whereas Legions are more designed for gaming (i.e. in terms of better cooling etc) can anyone confirm this or was this a fever dream

My Ideapad gaming 3 came with a SATA adapter which could be used in the second drive slot. Mine came with only 1 drive installed though, it seems this version has 2 already. Looking at the specs I believe the larger drive comes as an SATA HDD.

How the hell do they still name it a "Gaming Laptop" but Jam only 8GB of Ram into it.

1x 8GB SO-DIMM DDR4-3200
Memory Slots
Two DDR4 SO-DIMM slots, dual-channel capable
Max Memory
Up to 16GB DDR4-3200 offering
Keep in mind that when you upgrade the memory, you need a stick that does 3200 in JEDEC as opposed to XMP. There won't be an option in the bios to select XMP so it has to be something that will be picked up automatically by the bios (JEDEC).

These ones worked fine in my (similarly spec'd) HP...

I threw one of these 16GB (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08C51 ... =UTF8&th=1) in addition to the already installed 8GB and brought mine up to 24GB.

I had this and returned it. Among reasons was the fact that the USB-C port didn't work with my monitor (I tried both USB-C to DP converter and USB-C to USB-C cable). Didn't look deeply in specs so don't know if that's by design or if mine was faulty.
Beware!

If it's the same as the HP (and I suspect it is) it's just a USB port, there's no video over it.

Agree. I think this is the most important spec of a laptop screen that people always ignore.
