Would you recommend the extended warranty (on-site for $65; 3 years)?

I debated the exact same thing for about 20 minutes and ended up with the i5 based on things I’ve read. The i7 doesn’t give enough “bang for my buck” and when I thought about my expected usage:

“As we've said, the i7 models are top in terms of performance, but unless you're encoding a lot of video, or doing something equally intensive, an i5 will suit you just fine.”

“Although the Core i7-8550U beat the Core i5-8250U fair and square, it really wasn't by much. At most, the Core i7 is only 6 percent faster in overall performance, which is quite underwhelming when you consider the price difference. A single minute spared during video editing certainly isn't worth $150 to $200.”

OOS now.
I ordered the I7 instead because the i5 was out of stock, then refreshed the i5 page and it was back in stock so ordered that too, see if I get either.

The x1 carbon was out of stock earlier, now it shows stock, so who knows what's going on.

EDIT and now the x1 is out of stock again

Going to cancel 1 of my 2 orders unless someone wants it at cost, the 730 i5 256gb shows out of stock for new orders.

have you seen the reviews on Bestbuy.com (US) about this model and the prevalent screen flickering issues? I placed an order yesterday and just got a chance to read about it. Lenovo's response seems to say BIOS and driver updates but users say it's hardware?

Also 16 pages of reports on Lenovo's community forums: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yog ... -p/4085136
Gonna cancel my order

Thanks for the heads up. It looks like the issue is quite common... Don't want to spend $1,000 after tax for a headache. Canceled my order as well.

Thanks for the heads up on this issue. Just spoke with a colleague of mine and he just received his Yoga 730 back in october. He is experiencing severe screen flicking for the past month. He's tried everything Lenovo tech support has suggested. Looks like this is a hardware issue and Lenovo is refusing to fix as they claim it's software related. Cancelled my order as I do not want to be forking out $1,000 for additional headaches.

I can confirm the issue with Yoga- i have the yoga900 and the screen is problematic from day one - ghost touches to flickering screen. Tech replaced the panel after much complaining within the warranty, and the problem is back after 6 months with the new panel (out of warranty now). Thought I drop a line for rfders since I benefited so much from rfd community.

Beautiful machine though...

Yikes.. Making me second guess this lol. Sounds like a widespread issue. If no Lenovo for a quality 2 in 1 then who though.

I had a Yoga 2 laptop (a few years back) and it had the same issue.

However, it was fixed after I adjusted power settings (i forgot how i did it, but i followed some youtube video).

Just FYI. Not sure if this is the same.

My buddy said that he tried this as suggested by Lenovo tech support but it did not fix the issue on the 730...
