Base model has a TN display. If you upgrade to IPS, you have to stick with the dual-core processor. If you want quad-core, you'll need to upgrade to a touch display.

Seems like the realistic configuration with IPS, quad-core comes to $708. You'll need to spend another $50 for a 8GB SODIMM afterwards.

Even if we go with custom option, its not a bad deal for the newest tiger lake socs. No personal experience as yet but I hear tiger lake are a huge leap forward from comet lake.

I'm waiting for CBs to come shod with tiger lake myself. Anyhoos upvote to OP for catching this

PS: Just worked a similar lappie sans perkopolis & with 15% rakuten, it comes out to $725. Might be a good way to go as well.

That's why I said buyers will need to spend another $50 for a SODIMM.

Gets an error "Price is below floor price" when trying to customize.

Otherwise, for the model above at $700, I don't think you can really get much cheaper. Plus an extra 8GB of memory would be a very usable laptop for cheap.

i3 with 16GB of RAM and IPS display is around $700, not too shabby at all.
