i3 and 4GB memory? Am I missing something here? I'm a fan of ThinkPads but this seems like a terrible deal.

ThinkPads are usually easy to upgrade. If the processor is enough this can be upgraded for 16GB+ relatively cheap.
Most probably not the greatest deal around, might make sense for some - indeed pretty niche :-) .

I don't think a Thinkpad E Series is for typical Thinkpad fans. :)

Fans usually go for T, X and P / W.

E / L / S are low ends...

2 cores, 4GB RAM...250nits...for close to $800. (ok, 1TB SSD is nice...but that base configuration is rather disturbing)

I love ThinkPads (using Carbon X1 Gen 8), but this not a good deal.

This E15 configuration is far too niche. The processor is nearly a Celeron. You're better off with a Dell Inspiron 15 ($749 before coupons) with i5 with 8GB/256GB.

looking for a laptop for Hackintosh, does the Dell Inspiron E15 support Hackintosh?

all though i agree that this is barely a thinkpad in many ways and that the configuration leaves much to be desired, the i3 series are hardly close to celerons. The i3 has come a long way and is very very capable.

Why? My wife has T14s work laptop. It has huge coil wine and cooling system is not good compare to my Thinkbook 14. Only keyboard is better but E series Thinkbooks have the same keyboards.
It is not worth to buying it but because of i3 and 4GB memmory.
