Yes, definitely downgrade. Pretty much every bit of software out there does not know how to use four cores, so you get no extra speed. The exceptions are 3D, video, and audio rendering.

Also, do not buy an SSD from Lenovo, they are Samsungs, and are significantly slower than Intel X-25M's. I purchased a couple of T410s last month and put Intel SSDs in. They work fantastic.

would GTA Episodes from Liberty City play okay (barely any lag) on a Y460??

If it would lag, which part(s) would be the bottleneck/slowing down the game?

Assuming you have 4GB of RAM, the bottleneck is going to be mostly the graphics card. The 5650M is an upper mid-range video chip and GTA is not the most optimized game. It will play OK if you drop some of of the eye candy and the resolution.

On Tuesday I ordered a T410 and it said "ships in more than 4 weeks".

Then today I saw the new coupon thread Andrew posted and priced out the same computer. My price was a few bucks cheaper, but now it says "ships in 1-2 weeks".

Do you guys think that means mine will now come sooner, or should I cancel and reorder so I can get it in 1-2 weeks instead of 4+? How accurate are these estimates?

As this thread states, i think Lenovo's shipping estimates are weird. Either that or they can't estimate for beans.

No. The estimate shipping date really means nothing. for "3~5 days" you could get it in 2 months, but for "4 weeks" you could get it in 10 days. They don't really know what they are doing.

So I would be ahead of the people who order today, despite what the shipping estimates say?

Call them if you want accurate shipping dates. The one listed on the site was wrong for me, but I called few weeks back and sure enough it shipped on the date they gave me.

usually, it is true.

If you order some other special parts, that would delay in somehow. But you always want to call them every a few days.

My estimated ship date under order status is yesterday.. they didn't update it and I haven't received a shipping notification. Just shows how bad their system is.
