thanks OP.

has anyone tried installing XP on SL400 series?
I havent decided to buy it, but if I do, I want to be able to use XP PRO (original license) on the laptop instead of crappy Vista.

Okay dudes, I just put 2 in my cart and they're coming up as costing me $0.00. They would have to honour that... right??

WUXGA might be a bit overkill on a 15.4" display, but it's really subjective so make sure your eyes can handle it. The prices of W500 seem to have gone up since they were introduced. There were some awesome deals when the W500 first came out but I ended up getting a killer T61p system (predecessor model) for just over $900 with similar specs to this system below.

My T61p has a T9300, NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M 256MB, and an Intel

I believe build quality is the same, just bigger.

But the W series is larger and usually comes with discrete graphics card.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the T500 and W500 are the same physically except for a couple things:

Video Card:

T500 - Integrated or ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 with 256MB
W500 - ATI Fire GL M86-GL with 512MB

LCD Display: More selection available with the W500 including WUXGA
