Several models equipped with good display are ready to ship.

For example, P14s (Part# 20S5S1LW00) with the following specs is selling for $1,409
  • i7-10510U
  • Windows 10 Pro
  • 14.0" UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS, glossy with Dolby Vision™, HDR 400, 500 nits
  • 16 GB DDR4 2667MHz (Soldered)
  • 512 GB PCIe SSD
  • NVIDIA® Quadro® P520 2GB

P15s (Part# 20T4002KUS) with the following specs is selling for $1209
  • i7-10510U
  • Windows 10 Pro
  • 15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, touchscreen, 300 nits
  • 16 GB DDR4 2667MHz (Soldered)

  • NVIDIA® Quadro® P520 2GB
  • 3 Year Depot or Carry-in

If you want a ThinkPad with good display and ready-to-ship, this appears to be a reasonably good deal.

Rakuten cashback is YMMV.

If you need a beast, I find the P17 (Part number: 20SQS01P00) very well priced with Perkopolis (1,509.00):
  • i7-10750H
  • Windows 10 Pro 64
  • 17.3" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, 300 nits
  • 16 GB DDR4 2933MHz

The discount applies (in some way) to the options. It's well worth adding each you are interested in just to see how much "your price" goes up.

Nice: on the Gen 1 Linux config, the cost of going from base display (FullHD, 250 nit) to UltraHD, 400 nit is only $210.

The price of going from i5-10210U to i7-10510U is only $104, not $280. The performance improvement is minor but the option is required if you want the soldered RAM to be 16GiB

Here is another good one. P15 with the following specs is selling for $1949:
  • i9-10885H Processor with vPro™ (2.40 GHz, up to 5.30 GHz with Turbo Boost, 8 Cores, 16 Threads, 16 MB Cache)
  • 16 GB DDR4 2933MHz (2 x 8 GB)
  • 512 GB PCIe SSD
  • 15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare with Dolby Vision™, HDR 400, 500 nits
  • NVIDIA® Quadro® T2000 4GB
  • AC Adapter: 170W
  • Weight: Starting at 6.05lbs / 2.74kg

This may be what a true mobile workstation should look like.

hmmmnn ... 2 grand plus taxes ... hmmnnn ... honestly, I can swing it but I don't need it. I'm too old for futureproofing.

I literally just want a new laptop that I can play Diablo 2 resurrected ... that's kinda nice but not too nice. I know, lol eh?

that's why the ryzen value appeals to me but the current supply chain constrictions have made for strange offerings and wait times. I did pick up that Lenovo thinkbook 14 for my kid and he seems to like it - but he's got low expectations so ...

just wondering, would it be safe to say that this above laptop with a Ryzen processor of equivalent performance would be ... hundreds of dollars less?
He .... looka lika MAN!
I tell you every ting!
