[Lenovo Canada] ThinkPad T580 (FHD i5-8250U 8G) for $648.45

Seems good price for a well-built and upgradable laptop. Obviously not a portable one comparing to some ultrabooks, and screen (though being anti-glare) is its weak point.

Additional 9% cashback at Rakuten. Not sure why Student/Teacher/Military discount is not coming up at checkout.

This price is available at perkopolis or epp link, regular lenovo site sells for $$766.35 but can be combined with cashback/student discount :)

I mean due to its weight, not that portable comparing to some ultrabooks :)

This is a really good deal. $648 for a T580 even with these somewhat lower specs is amazing

I personally really like the T580

It has two available memory slots, two storage slots (2.5 and 2242) and a numpad - features that are becoming increasingly rare. If one is feeling adventurous, one could swap in a 4k panel as well
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

I think this is very hot. I just can't stand 250 nit screens. Major bummer - I wish lenovo would improve that way, I know business users aren't supposed to care, but I think they do..

This is the exact reason I personally do not purchase as well. But the price seems really good. Maybe better for someone who often hooks it to an external monitor.

I agree. I've heard you can get 3rd party screens, but I don't really want to do that.

Usually docked or hooked up to an external monitor, Lenovo rarely puts nice panels in their laptops I find.

Guessing that's May 9th not Sept 5th. Still pretty long considering it says 1-3 business day but worth

Even when they put "nice" panels they suck. My yoga 2 pro had a 4k screen that had problems to end of the world. Lenovo also don't stand behind their product. Once it leaves the warehouse it's your problem

Got this with a touch screen for my dad 1-2 years back. He likes it. It has thunderbolt 3 and uses a cheap adapter to get a 2nd HDMI out so he can run 2 external monitors off it. Seems like a good deal for an office use machine.

THIS IS HOT Fire

The build quality is not available at this price range.

I will agree the screen brightness is not good. I sometimes sit by my window which is about 10ft wide and on a Sunny day its not ideal to watch videos.

This is a crazy good price for a t series laptop. The only recommendation is to buy a vinyl wrap and wrap the palm rest and top of 5he laptop as its a fingerprint magnet.

Just picked up 2 of these work horses for work. Battery life, ruggedness, ease of working on it, makes it an easy choice for people on the road. Yes, the screen could be brighter, but they are great machines
