Bought it when it was 1170* (pre tax) two weeks ago. Using it now as an alternative to my macbook pro. Would recommend.

Pros:
-keyboard
-build quality and materials
-battery life
-lightweight
-quiet

Cons:
-terrible trackpad
-awful 1080p 16x9 screen
-not as premium as macbooks

edit: I think there's new 10th gen intel cpu's coming, which are 6 core instead of 4 core if you want to wait, but they'll be a lot more expensive.

Yes, please help clear out this Intel stock so we can get some AMD 4000 series in stock. Thanks.

Is the 480s for $965 a good deal?

No real TP users actually use the touchpad because it’s more convenient and productive to use the track point.

As for the screen you probably didn’t choose a IPS option.

I disagree it has a terrible trackpad. I've been using MacBooks since 2008 and purchased an X1C7 last November. It's not as good as my old MBP, but it's perfectly fine and I still may be getting used to it.

I also don't have any issues with the screen. It's my first matte screen and I actually prefer it to the glossy ones I've used before, but I use my laptop for productivity and web browsing (no gaming or movies)

if you check AMD cpu price and details, you will wait and hold the cash in your hands.

Windows laptops are 8gb of soldered ram for $1300, huh? Might as well get a macbook.

I've been using x1 Carbon 7th gen (i5, 16GB, 256SSD, 1080p display) for a few weeks and I love it! It's fast enough, good battery life, but the most important thing is the form factor - super light and compact. I'm coming off a 2015 MBP (fully jammed) and I prefer this X1 way more for my own use-case.

The touchscreen makes it kinda interesting for those of you who would find it useful, I just wished the hinges would let it go into a tablet mode.

Is 8th Gen coming anytime soon ?

Due to current CPU core battles, I expect a fresh design from all major OEMs to accommodate additional cores.

Ive been using a 7th gen carbon i7 since August last year. It replaced my 2013 macbook pro. I have to say this is probably once of the nicest laptops I have used. Echo the statements on battery life (I can get a full days work on one charge). super light and they keyboard is the best I've used, ever. I went for this because of the keyboard issues the macbook pros have been having the last few years and couldn't be happier.
