For those who missed the flex 14 deal, this one is bit less money but a bit lesser in terms of power. Also, this is not a 2-1 laptop. Need to make a lenovo smbpro account.

AMD Ryzen™ 5 3500U
15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, touchscreen, 250 nits
8GB DDR4 2400MHz (4GB Soldered + 4GB DIMM)
256GB SSD PCIe
Integrated AMD Radeon™ Vega 8 Graphics
KB US ENGLISH, backlit

Decent. Touch too.

Nice work.

Only downside is the 15.6" screen form factor (and of course the lack of 2-in-1), the form factor is too large for my and many others' liking. But we're between sales cycles and this is pretty decent overall value.

More thoughts I posted elsewhere...
Lenovo IdeaPad S340 Overview

We're looking at a decent mid-season build here if you missed the Flex 14 at $599. If you don't need 2-in-1 Touch and you do need the number pad and a 15.6" form factor, this is a no-brainer buy and try.

You've got until into January to pray to the latter day saints for wisdom on this purchase.

Replaceable Parts
- (1x) SODIMM Slot -- Supports up to 32GB DDR4 SODIMM [36GB Total RAM (32GB + 4GB)]
- WiFi Card Slot -- Recommending the Intel AX200NGW WiFi 6 Card [Cheap and Easy to Replace]
- NVMe Slot -- Sleeper SSD should be replaced with a monster (Good value: ADATA / Silicon Power / Sabrent 1TB)

Verification
- 15" FHD IPS 250 Nits -- Yes, Minimally Acceptable.
- Numeric Keypad -- Yes, Great for Numerical Data Entry
- Touchscreen -- Yes, surprising, but still useful without 2-in-1.
- Ryzen 3500U -- (+/-) 5% delta with Ryzen 3700U
- Vega 8 -- (+/-) 5% delta with the Vega 10

The WiFi 1x1 is looking like it's classic third party garbage. There's enough horsepower for this device to serve as a light workstation, but I'm recommending you flick that card in the dust bin.

Just bought this laptop about a month and a half ago for 616 all in. Really like it. Screen size is ideal for me don't see how many users prefer smaller screens.

I did notice the 15" y540 is a little cheaper too on the lenovo pro website than black Friday. The specs seem decent with 144 hrz panel, rtx 2060, 512 ssd + 1tb harddrive, and 16gb memory for 1376.99 before taxes. Don't forget to add ebates.

I think i prefer the 14" as well, but the value is there in this one. The 2-1 is more gimmicky for me than anything else. same with touch, but others may find those useful. Im excited to see what the next few years will bring in terms of laptop gaming...the vega igpu has really taking it to another level. Now if only AMD would step up their high end dGPU sector is would be a godsend as i hate being pigeonholed into Nvidia.

I need this but in 17". Or, a touchscreen gaming laptop. Sadly, only a few exist.

I absolutely love touchscreens. They improve my workflow and make it more efficient.

No, I haven't! Interesting. I'll have to check it out.

I have the flex 14 from the deal a few weeks back, and I'm liking the performance and the form factor combo of it.

It's a trade off between screen size and weight, not to mention battery life. At almost 4 pounds, this thing is almost like a brick by today's standards. Once you have a laptop under 2.5 pounds you'd see why having a 14" is considered by many to be the sweet spot. Overall, this laptop looks like a good deal, but some people might think twice if they are lugging around a laptop + books and other stuff around the whole day. That's when every pound counts.
