FYI, I've gone through Lenovo a few times to build a gamer laptop and none of the Thinkpads were really interesting. nVidia Quadro and NVS cards are built for rendering and workstation applications, not 3D gaming so you might get less performance than expected in games.

10XX for a T410s is really tempting, trying very very hard to resist.

Why were you looking at Thinkpads in the first place anyway?
They are never meant for gaming :)

They're business laptops, particularly for engineering use in the field... Alienware/Asus for gaming?

I was looking at the entire series of Lenovo laptops since they were having deals on all laptops. Can't hurt to check, right? Other people had asked about those cards in a similar Lenovo thread, when they had 40% off laptops over 1600$.

Used to be better with the min. requirement being $1500. As someone mentioned, the EPP deal at times turns out to be better.

In addition, they're gonna start producing the Thinkpads with the NVIDIA Optimus soon, don't think these have it. http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/05/leno ... nounces-t/

Forgive my ignorance but what is EPP and it available to us working stiffs? I want a Thinkpad at the cheapest price.

Lenovo Friends EPP (employee pricing) and yes, it is available to the general population. lenovo-thinkpad-x-series-23-off-t-serie ... in-777107/

That link has more details but basically you go and configure yourself a Thinkpad and use the coupon CAEOCTOBERDEALS (with no space at the end or start) and see if it is cheaper for you through the EPP than it is through the RFD 35% discount. The thing is the EPP has an initial discount and then you get another discount on top of that by using the coupon code. Best of all, no minimum $ required.

Good luck.
