Lexus LC500 Convertible

Alex reviews below. Is this anyone else's dream car? I feel like this thing will still turn heads 20 years from now, it is incredible. The engine note when he is doing the drive portion... sublime!

I can definitely see myself picking up one of these used one day.

This car defies physics lol. "470hp", 4400lbs, and a 1/4 mile time in the low 13s, along with nearly 170ft to come down from 70MPH. That's the coupe too, convertible is probably worse. There's also a hybrid version which sounds interesting but then...it's also worse, and I mean who would have thought a CVT + 4spd autotragic from a tractor-trailer wasn't a winning combination for a sports coupe, right?

Anyway, while the LC500 is moseying along, an S6 (which is actually lesser-engined than the previous S6) weighs 100lbs more, has four doors and a large trunk, does a mid-12 quarter, stops 15ft shorter, and pulls about the same gs on the skidpad.

This is just one example, there are many other cars that weigh more, have less rated hp, and perform better all around. Lexus is pretty much lying or "Toyblowta horsepower" is not the same as everyone else's. I pointed this out some time ago, so I hate to beat a dead horse but...c'mon nearly 500hp and this is the result? 500hp my behind! A 335hp X5 SUV weighs a whopping 500lb more than this and has similar numbers for acceleration and braking...and it's an SUV!

Certainly to each their own, and if you want to own one someday then I hope you find a nice one. Don't mean to rain too hard on this parade but again how do they have a number of nearly 500hp when there is probably not a vehicle out there with this kind of power rating that's this slow, SUVs included? It's not "slow" per se but for that kind of hp it's definitely slow. Everyone has their favourites but this kind of nonsense from Toyota is def. not my cup of tea (like 99% of Toyotas for the past 20-some-odd years). It's nice looking, I'll give it that much; even the Predator grille looks okay due to the design of the front it fits quite well. It's almost as if Toyota designed that grille for this car and then just stuck it on every other Lexus for some unknown reason.

Apart from looking nice I just can't wrap my head around how they got to the engine output figures. It's more like 400hp. Either that or there's an extra 500lb in there--perhaps that "1" hp in 471hp is an actual horse in the trunk?

I saw one on the road the other day, roof down. The brown leather interior looks very premium.

However I hope more ppl buy new. So when I can afford it, they are still updating the car.

This car will still be going strong long after its German competitors have given up the ghost.

At this price there are so many options for great cars that badge appeal holds a lot more weight to those who can afford it. Sadly the Lexus name cant keep up with its competitors.

Needs a 6MT tho.

Only thing keeping me and a few others from buying it.

I've never raced a quarter mile in my life and never will. Specs quicker than 5s 0-60 quickly become meaningless imo. Unless you are tracking the car.

I agree the car is overpriced for the performance, that is obvious, you are paying to get a concept car unlike anything else on the road, in a very nice convertible. Also Lexus VS Mercedes for long term ownership etc.

If it's not your style that is fine. I don't like the looks of all the German cars that just clone the same appearance up and down the lineup. Nor do I like their exhaust notes as much as this car.

If I was buying a convertible for practical+luxury use it would be the E class cabriolet for the decent backseat for kids. If I ever move to Texas I'd have my eye on those, plus a minivan.

Which convertibles? 911 convertible dead base at $8k more is the only one I would maybe take over it, but does it even come with a backup camera at that price? Lol. Add $30k for a more realistic price. I've been to the 911 museum in Stuttgart, pretty interesting as they show every iteration and upgrade over time.

yup... it's a very nice cruiser and as evident in this thread, not everybody can appreciate nice things and only know 0-60 or 1/4 mile times

totally different type of car. a vette doesn't have the quality materials or comfort of the LC and LC doesn't have the performance numbers. Are you really comparing a sports car to a GT cruiser?

can you even drive and have a conversation with top down in the vette?

this is what the LC500 is made for that the vette just isn't meant for

How much more wind and road noise are you going to get in the LC with the top up when compared to a hardtop convertible. Price is way to high for what you get. Notice how there are very few pictures with the top up....it is because it looks awful.

So you’re telling us you can get a vet at MSRP today? And comparing a grand tourer to a full blown sports car? This is some comical shit.

considering it has even less noise with top down than most other coupes and it's a lexus... i'll say way less noise than in a vette?

and you are asking why a CONVERTIBLE has marketing materials showing the car with the top down? lolol

The C8 isn't gonna match the material quality but it's really stepped up, and all reviews say it is quite refined (some say too refined). GM is a leader with mag-ride suspension, I really don't think it would be that far off as a cruiser with that option.

Here's the same POV reviewer, unfortunately he was driving this in the winter:

And these guys had no problem conversing with the top down in their review:

And SavageGeese review of the non-convertible complimenting the ride quality, "...this is a GT car first...":
