Lexus owners - is insurance more $ due to high theft rate?

Know someone who just had their Lexus stolen off the driveway and I was wondering why insurance companies don't charge a much higher premium due to loss from theft. Also wonder why Lexus doesn't supply owners with bag/boxes to block the signal at home which is at risk.

I thought the problem with Lexus was limited to only a few year models for the RX.

In other words, not all Lexus models...

For the later part of your question, theft could be good for car makers, more cars sold and to an extent good propaganda... no different than Microsoft Windows piracy, they closed an eye for a while ... (15 years?) Face With Tears Of Joy

You will need to look at the insurance black book on cars. Theft rate is one issue , chance of accident is another, location, cost of repair, etc..
Just looking at theft rate isn't accurate

Moved from a 2014 is350 to a 2019 x3 (both new). Insurance was 1100 for the Lexus, 1200 for the x3. 31 y/o male.

I'm sure it does increase the cost, but regardless, everyone I know pays less for a comparable or even more expensive Lexus SUV than BMW models (likely because of the rate of BMWs getting into accidents).

Side note, I have a good amount of these faraday pouches available for sale if anyone's interested. Super inexpensive security option and works flawlessly to block the signal from the Lexus key fob!

Where are you located? That's close to my rate and I'm way older than you and have cheaper cars.

Not enough IMO. All of the other owners are subsidizing expensive cars that get stolen. Accident might be $5,000 of damage, theft is like $80,000 of replacement value.

They should supply several of these for every vehicle they sell.

That's right it's not all Lexus.

The high theft rates were pretty much from 2009 - whenever the hell they decide to fix it.

But Keyed Lexus from like 1989 to ~ 2009 Were not much easier to steal than the rest of the cars on the market.

Doesn't do shit all with Toyota, as you can clone a new key via the OBD port.

not for my parents, their insurance (2019 RX350) is cheaper than the Acura RDX, MB GLC and X3 when they checked insurance. They are in a condo in Thornhill. i think the RX insurance for full coverage is like 1400 a year?
