If you're back 5' or more you'll never see it. If you're at a desk, it'll be there every minute of every day. Apple was one of the first to solve this with their laminated displays where the backlight was glued to the LCD display. In a tablet it's not that back when it's not laminated but in a 43" TV it's there and looks like some minor 3D TV effect.
I'm keeping the TV, but this is one of those things worth mentioning.
Though like yourself, I was more particular about the ins and outs when I first bought it.
