[LightInTheBox.com] $37.52 Steadycam (or $33 with free SH at ********!)

EDIT: Someone posted something about LightIntheBox which makes them sound a little shady so maybe look instead at ******** for $33 if you're interested in getting one.

I ran across this Steadycam for $37.52 CDN from LightInTheBox.com. I bought a similar one a few years ago for a wedding for about $100 so this is pretty cheap! I don't know about the quality, and I haven't shopped at LightInTheBox before IIRC. It looks pretty heavy duty in the photos. Unfortunately the website doesn't seem to show shipping costs in the cart so YMMV!

I bought this Hague steady cam years ago, and it looks pretty similar. The Hague has a ball joint that kind of pops out though which I don't like as it doesn't feel that secure if something gets bumped...

EDIT: Shipping appears to be $17 from LightInTheBox. Wearysky posted up an alternative AliExpress link for the same item for less:

aliexpress.com/item/Yongnuo-RF-603II-RF603II-N1-Flash-Trigger-2-Transceivers-For-Nikon-D700-D300-D300s-D200-D100/32241271003.html

Lincoln found it for $33 with free shipping at ********:

I vaguely remember maybe ordering a small LED flashlight from them years and years ago? I think? Other people seem to be posting deals for dashcams and other items from them so I think they likely are a Chinese type seller similar to Dealextreme, ********, etc? Sorry, I'm not quite sure.

If it doesn't break the link to the product (in this case, it doesn't), I don't really have a problem with RFD forcing their referral links. Especially since I use an ad blocker, so they're not getting any ad bucks from me.

As for this product - it's looks to be the exact some one being offered here on AliExpress for $35US, so these guys are almost certainly a Chinese shop. Which means loooong shipping times for surface shipping, or DHL fees if you go with expedited. And if you continue to the checkout page, shipping looks to be anywhere from $12.27US (surface) to $15.26US (expedited). That kills the deal, IMO.

hmm....you can probably just buy these metal shelf brackets and just screw on the camera attachment thingy. Just use foam/sponge for the handle. I think it's like $1 :D

You're looking at the picture, but not understanding what it does. It has a gimble and weights to cancel out movement and keep the camera steady. From what I've read in the past, balancing can be a pain, and you really need to practice with these things. They seem to be more frustrating than just something you can grab from time to time and have success with.

I am a regular customer of light in the box, Items are shipped from mainland china and it can take up to one month if you opt for free shipping . Their reputation is much better than Ali express and other Chinese retailers.
If one person finds my post useful, I consider it as a job well done....

I didn't go all the way to the checkout to see what shipping costs were. The Hague steady cam that I have isn't too difficult to balance out. There is a swivel part IIRC that you can tilt to either side and add or remove little weight discs to the bottom. The handle has a ball joint that I think clips into a plastic retainer so it's snug, but it could pop out in an accident easily so you have to be careful. The whole assembly is small and portable. For amateur video it beats handheld shots if you're on the go I guess. Here's a video of the Hague:

Here's a cheapo DIY stabilizer if anyone wants to build their own:

I searched around briefly, but I didn't see anything else in the $37 CDN range. $17 shipping isn't too bad, but if someone can find a cheaper one than $57 please post it up!

This is no Steadicam. See these stabilizer devices on amazon for a few dollars more. If you are interested in such a thing take a look at this product: http://stayblcam.com/

Before you go ahead and buy one of these handheld options you should really consider other products.

The Steadicam product lineup is well known as an industry standard, so if you're serious about giving stabilized photography a go you might want to consider other alternatives like these:

I was contacted by "aaron" from lightinthebox to post reviews and deals on redflagdeals in exchange for free items. I accepted the offer because he didn't put any restrictions regarding the review or deal posts. I figured I can disclose my affiliation and get some free stuff. However, I did some research on the website. If you value your identity and credit card read the following links.

As for my free item at first he told me I could have any item, we agreed on the Yongnuo 35mm Canon lens. Then it turned out that was out of stock, and then he placed a limit of $100 or under. I told him I didn' want anything.

Yeah this Lightinthebox website is a ripoff. You can find all of their products for half the price from other Chinese retailers. TomTop, GB and EverBuying.

That TomTop one is a great price, but I'm getting about $19 CDN shipping so though would be around $38 CDN total. Maybe the ******** at $33 with free shipping is the best so far. Thanks again for the searching!

disclaimer: I do not have any affiliation with any of these companies, and I have not received any free products or incentives from any one. I just saw the deal while searching around, and I thought I'd share it here. I already have a Hague stabilizer so I have no idea if any of these Chinese ones are any good. The Hague is so so - it works okay, but it's not a super professional smooth stabilizer. It looks like the ones with the two weights at the bottom seem more stable so they might be better to use.
