HOT! 600 Mbps Down, 50 Mbps Up Cable Internet, $79.95 a Month No Contract

Deal Link:
Price:
$79.95
Retailer:
Lightspeed
Looks like Lightspeed Internet just recently got new very high speed internet plans that can beat Shaw cable. The top tier Lightspeed 600 Mbps down, 50 Mbps up plan is on special for $79.95 a month, no contract! This is the same download speed as Shaw's fastest cable internet but Shaw only offers 20 Mbps for the upload speed, meaning Lightspeed is 2.5x faster than Shaw at uploading big things like videos and photos. This would make a big difference in real world speeds if you do a lot of uploading.

The $79.95 price is also pretty good considering there is no contract and this would be lower than the 2 year average cost Shaw is offering on contract on their website right now (~$88.10 a month) that has the much slower upload speed. Lightspeed also doesn't raise their prices to screw you over like Shaw does every year.

The downside is that you need to purchase your own modem from Lightspeed if you don't already have a Technicolor TC4400, which is $195.95.

Lightspeed doesn't do credit checks but instead charges you for the first month and then a deposit equal to one month that you can get back when you cancel.

damn that's really good! If I didn't already have a contract for $60 Shaw 300, I would switch to this!

It should be available where ever Shaw operates since Lightspeed uses the Shaw network. Definitely available in Calgary, headquarters of Shaw. Does Vancouver have Shaw?

Have a friend that has Lightspeed in Calgary and it has awful routing (ex. 80ms ping to a server in a Calgary, yes, Calgary to Calgary). He's also had similar routing issues with medium sized data centers in the States so I wouldn't hold my breath.

I used to be on Lightspeed in BC and I had no significant issue with them. Would go for them again.

Costco has Primus! /s

This is kind of interesting but the comment by @imhansolo is concerning since latency is important to me.

Primus is no good bro.
That was the other half of the joke.

Besides... I like my Tier 1 companies.
You pay a little (ok a lot) more but you actually get to talk to proper support when things go wrong.

Doesn't beat 1Gbps up/down for $75/month.

Some of us are subjugated to Shaw area monopolies preventing competition. We have to take what we can get.

Quite the premium you pay for support you almost never need.

lol sure. I'm with surf internet which is like tier 3. uses Shaw's infrastructure. but I pay peanuts with no sudden cost increases. same with cellphone providers. you can have your premium CS. I'll take dirt cheap bills

Who offers this? IMO, Bell and Rogers don't count because they will try to raise your rates every two months and hope you don't notice.

I would be on this 600/50 deal like a fat kid on a Twinkie if it was available in the GTA.

I have been with Teksavvy for years and absolutely love them, but their fastest 250 mbps for $90 a month isnt very competitive anymore.
