Just a follow up to your other thread … and helpful for this one

Look for not only large patios … but preferably ones that will take reservations

Cuz under Ontario Reopening Step Two … and Restaurants only being able to offer Outdoor Dining … space & logistics can be extremely challenging for both the Restaurant & the Customet

So many places we have found have extremely limited capacity (tables still have to be 6 feet apart)

And consequently it’s either First Come First Served, or they run a wait list for seating.

So lots of things to think about for Step Two … whereas Step Three is gonna be far less restrictive.
And as Ontario has already surpassed the Vaccination Percentages required for Step 3 (70% - 80% 1st dose / 25% fully vaccinated)
I don’t expect the wait to get to Step 3 to be very long
(Ontario currently @ 78% 1st dose / 46% fully vaccinated )

Not far from 401/404 is Shops on Don MIlls...a few of the restaurants have big patios. Some of the patios are street level and some are actually upper level as well.

For sure Joey's and Taylor's Landing - both of these places are across the street from each other.

Use Google Maps, street views if you want to see what they look like.

Trinity Bellwoods park.
No reservations. bring your own beer/wine. No corkage fee.
Up to 25 people as per Ontario stage 2 re-opening guidelines.

DJ’s on weekends.

Same thing with riverdale park gerrard and broadview.

JK… these are parks where young people hang out and drink. Not gonna lie. I had a blast @ riverdale park one time!

I know some restaurants that use an online reservation system … like Open Table
Still have links on their websites
But you’ll never find a table
Cuz they’ve basically disconnected the service while operating solely with limited seating patio service
They won’t go back to online reservations until they get to reopen for indoor under Ontario Step 3

Best bet … make phone call inquiries to see who is accepting reservations for patio dining

Or as I said … wait a wee bit longer until Ontario Step 3 Reopening
When places will have far more seating to offer with BOTH indoor & outdoor

According to the latest news … Step 3 will likely happen ahead of the scheduled July 21st Date
(Rumours abound it could happen next week instead )

Lot of restaurants are actually not taking reservations due to no shows. You best bet might be to call em and go before opening and take two tables right at open.

Pickle barrel on Leslie between steeles and finch. Horribly mediocre food (their corned beef is decent) but they renovated their patio so it’s surprisingly chique for their otherwise target market of seniors. Nice lounge patio style furniture

I think it’s often over looked in the area.

The owl and firkin food again horribly average but street level and roof patio.

Willie stouts has ok bar food and an ok size patio.

Please double check if they’re open as I Havnt been to Toronto in a while.

We just picked up takeout from Joey's last Friday and the place was a complete zoo. Every patio absolutely packed and booked solid with walk ups being turned away. So many people everywhere you'd never know indoor dining is still closed. Chances of booking tables for 9 people nevermind having them sit at adjacent tables is probably slim to none anywhere at Shops, maybe if OP books weeks in advance but it still looks like max 4 per table which is how it's been everywhere we've gone so far

Isn't that park fully fenced and barred from visitors?

Weekend lunch is better IMO.

You have to go early and just get your table because I don't think they are taking reservations.

They're nice patio spaces though right.

They take reservations but every restaurant (except the Japanese one) had a 3+ hour wait list.

Jack Astors had a HUGE lineup!
Ya patio line ups are definitely the norm now that Ontario is in Step 2 of Reopening … with just Patio Dining and socially distanced tables.
We have enjoyed dining out a few times this last while … but have found the trick to be go in the off hours (mid afternoon )
So Brunch, Late Lunch, or early Dinner

Looking forward to Step 3 when indoor dining resumes
And hopefully the patios are a tad less busy

Otherwise it’s more off hours dining … or back to take out
As we continue to plan to avoid anywhere indoors without a mask for the foreseeable future
