Seems like YMMV. I didn't get it. Got an exclusive Spend $20 at Esso get 2,000 points offer instead.

Costco is better, real saving instead of PCO points.

Can't this potentially be worth more than the $15.01 savings at Costco though?

With redemption promos, instead of only getting $15 value from 15k PCO you could get up to $24 on Black Friday ($400 off for 250k redemption)

Plus the benefit of being able to use AMEX if needing to hit a minimum spend for sign-up bonuses or something

You can't use AMEX at Loblaws grocery stores.

Sly promotion by Loblaws they buy those DD gift cards for 85 dollars probably even 75 at bulk from costco or DD directly and then dumping it at the same price as cost or a bit higher. Even if they buy these GCs for 85 dollars for 100 dollar value they trap you by not giving you cash but giving you $15 in in store credit so they end up making money on vigs when you want to redeem your PC points buying stuff later on. They think people are not intelligent or something.

Yup. $15 in PCO points is worth more than $15 cash due to bonus redemption.

There is no issue of liquidity. At its worst without bonus redemption, you can spend it on $15 of gas at Esso.

If there was an option to buy 1000 PCO points for $1, it would be quite a good deal.

yeah but loblaws is taking on a gamble that most people who buy GCs through them will redeem their points during regular times on goods that are already overcharged at regular price. If only 1/4 of people know and plan on redeeming points when points are augmented then it's still worth for Loblaws to offer this because the 3/4 people would have redeemed all their points by then and they end up profiting anyway after taking a hit from during special events.
