[Loblaws] ON: Seiki 55" 4K UHD Smart TV $369.99 / After points $229.99

Loblaws (& Zehrs) in Ontario have spend $50 get $20 back in points for every $50 spent on General Merchandise including electronics - shown on page 1 of Loblaws Flyer. The Seiki 55" is in the flyer (Page 2) at $369.99 pre-tax, so after 20,000 points x 7 back (on $350 spend) you'll get $140 worth of points back reducing the TV price to $229.99 plus tax and any environmental fees if applicable.

Yes, Seiki is one of those brands you've likely never heard of, but a 55" 4K TV for $229.99 is a good price assuming you have a use for the PC points rebate.

Edited to add model number & image, thanks to UWOD2020 (Image used) shadowsteve (Model number).

Looks like a good price after the points but I can't find any valid reviews that say the TV is any good. Most say colors are bad.

EDIT: kind of hard to tell which 55 the reviews are referring. Maybe I'll stop at Loblaws and get a model #.

FWIW i have a seiki 55" 4k (no idea if it's still the same model) but it's been going strong for ~3+ years, no complaints. With Covid this year it has way more than typical usage. My only complaint was the power on by HDMI feature was annoying (seemed like the tv randomly turned itself on), until I figured it out and shut it down. Colors aren't bad, not great, but as long as you don't have it next to another better TV it's not noticeable like it is with my Haier.

Based on past reviews of seiki, it is near the bottom of the barrel along with rca and some others (of course, doesnt mean you cant have a good one). TVs are so ridiculously cheap at this point, I would wait for black friday. Even sharp has shown to be very reliable (ive had 3), although the recent super cheap deals theyve had were clearance stock and not likely to repeat soon

Keep in mind tax is based on 369 not 249

Yes even the flyer is vague on the model- I actually saw one at St Claire W this morning after the self checkout's but I didn't really think to stop for a photo - not getting one myself since I already have a TV (Not that that stops most people of RFD ;) )

Does Loblaws have any cheap Chroma 4:4:4 4K TVs? Kinda toying with the idea of getting one giant monitor to replace my multi-monitor setup but not ready to dump big money into a good 4K 4:4:4 TV just yet.

Anyone buying this should also add $31+ in additional qualifying stuff, since that'll get you another $20 in points. So you'll in effect be getting that $31+ of additional stuff for only $11+ (but as already mentioned, tax on the $31+)

I was getting some groceries anyways. Thought I'd snap photos at Waterloo Zehrs for people who are interested, about 8 each on the floor. Hope you can see the model numbers:

Where would TCL rank in with these brands? Been planning to pick up a 50" tcl 4-series for 380 when Costco gets them back in stock

TCL probably highest among the non-big brands (LG/samsung/sony/vizio). Helps that it is often sold by Costco

Good chance this TV will have HDCP issues if you plan on hooking up a receiver.

I have a 50S423 TCL that came from Costco. It's our main TV and has been working great. A couple of times it has stopped responding to the remote but I just unplugged it and plugged it back in to reboot.

My 40 Seiki lasted many years, as evidenced by the fact it was purchased from Tiger Direct, well before they closed their stores.

I liked the feature of the "freeze" button. Can anyone confirm, or deny, that this tv has that function.

Would this be a good buy compared to the TCL TVs sold at Costco?

Not sure, but isn't Loblaws return policy decent? Meaning, we could go buy this and return if we want, in a reasonable amount of time?

Tempting to buy this as last week i bought Hisense 58" smart Roku. All in with 5 yrs costco warranty came $560.
https://www.costco.ca/hisense-58-in.-4k ... 75014.html

not sure if i return the costco and buy this ??

Does the prime video and other apps stream properly without lagging? Hisense has no issue with netflix, prime, youtube which is what we mainly watch.
