I think the RCA 50" is not bad as well, given that it's android TV, so it's chromecast built in, if your home is google home integrated, might as well buy the RCA TV

Thanks OP! Thumbs Up Sign

I am having a 55 Westinghouse 4k smart tv for 4 years. Paid 400$ walmart.

Plus: great quality for the price. Everyone seems to like the picture quality. Even impressed some people because of the size.

Minus: cannot power off sometier if watching youtube or Netflix : has to quit the app. Or unplug tv.
Bought fire tv fixed problem.

So with 120000 points and the bonus redemption coming up, if you have another 10,000 points then you are getting $200 off a purchase during the event, correct?

I don't know about a bonus but for every 100$ you spend you get 40$ in points. Makes sense to get to the 300$ mark when you only need to spend 20$ more to do it and then you get another 40$ in points.

Also, I think I read somewhere that every new Roku activation gets you crave TV for 2 months - just be sure to cancel before the 2 months are up or else you'll get dinged $20/mo.

How is this on comparison to Seiki 55inch 4k smart tv?

I got it few days ago in $299 with $90 points earned...
I didn't open box yet..

So thinking if i shud return that and get this one now or leave it if seiki is better or what as its too much hassle to take big tvs like this to return and bring again new one..

Haven't compared but both are made at Tsinghua Tongfang factories in China.

If Brita water filters qualify as 'general merchandise'... The 5+1 bonus filter pack is on sale for $24.99 + $5 in points. Making it $304 spend with $125 back in points with the TV (plus tax on $304)

FYI new Roku activations have been down all day.

Bought a new TV and can’t use it because can’t register device.

Making me think twice about keeping it. I don’t want to rely on some sketchy OS even to be able use HDMI ports

Blame Amazon (AWS) - they took down a lot more than just Roku today.

As for not being able to use the HDMI ports because of the OS - that sounds more concerning! Can you elaborate?

I think they're referring to the fact that Roku TVs won't let you do anything until you've connected it to the internet and logged in with a Roku account.
TCL's implementation of Roku has an option to let you bypass this and use it as a dumb TV, but many other brands don't.

And yes Roku is slightly sketchy because they track what you are watching, with no option to opt-out. Pretty much every Smart TV OS nowadays do this though, so...yeah...

Roku is not really a sketchy OS. It is actually very popular and well supported. As mentioned elsewhere, there was a widespread AWS outage. I would not worry about a Roku TV to be honest, especially at these TV prices.
