[London Drugs] Energizer Max AA Batteries - 30 pack $12.88 [expired]

Decided to give these a shot after remaining unused Duracells started leaking before their 2022 expiry.

Works out to $0.43 a battery before tax, in-store and online. Not the cheapest, but urgent need (no batteries for TV remote).

EDIT: Deal expired Feb 22/2021.

i don't remember batteries leaking as much as a kid, why is it so frequent now? do we just have more gadgets so it appears as it happens more?

Could be that... I am guessing like it seems with many things, companies are cutting corners on materials/workmanship more than ever resulting in an inferior product.

I have the same experience as well. Quite frustrating.

Reading Alkaline battery in Wikipedia, it mentioned older batteries have mercury. Maybe the mercury prevented the leakage.

Agree. Kids definitely leak more than batteries do. ;-)

Shit parasitic electronic designs imo. Every alkaline seems to leak if it gets low enough in power. 15 cents in circuitry design could easily prevent any battery from being in circuit below it's voltage rating.
