That Pentax DA* 16-50mm is a smoking deal at $500.

I've used that lens for many years and loved every second of it.

LD is fast approaching The Source in sales of really really old technology. Good for RFDers deal finders but one wonders if they are really making money in their photo dept. On the other hand, in my small interior BC town, there is only WM or LD to buy cameras... And there is online!

Pentax 16-45 for $99 is a steal. I already have most of those ranges covered however. Whatever I don't have is not on sale sadly. That Pentax 12-24 or the 14mm would be so sweet for $99 hehe!

Wish this would work on a canon 7d

How's the condition of these LD open box/display models usually?

Usually pretty good but somehow every “open box” item I’ve ordered for in store pickup I’ve always gotten a new/wrapped item Smiling Face With Smiling Eyes

Buy it, you won't regret it. Pentax is updating it this season, but for $500 the glass in that is top notch. I remember reading a translated interview with the head of Pentax at the time it was first released with Tokina, he said only 3 or 4 people in the world had the skill to grind the glass to that quality.

I got a great deal on it at $900 the first year it was released and had been waiting for the DA* 11-16mm to be released to compliment it. So many years passed, when it finally came out it was $1800 which really does represent the range this DA* 16-50mm should be at.

On the Canon side, tempted to get the Sigma 150-500mm for $600. But then remember it is quite inferior to the Tamron, and I would only pay maybe $500 for it. The Tamron at $1000 however is too much (it isn't the newer G2), would aim for closer to $800.

On the Pentax Side, I already have the 18-135 WR and the 55-300 PLM. The 16-50 F2.8 for $500 is tempting but since I got the Canon RP recently, I don't think I should spent more money with the Pentax APS-C system. In fact, it is questionable to spent this much money into any APS-C system lens, instead of switching into full frame. Full Frame lens can be used with APS-C systems, but not the other way around.

Looks like I will have to skip this round.
Best shopping deals I got from here:
Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom $300, ZTE Blade V8 Pro $175, Fluld 55' 4k TV $360

Guys - stop with this peer pressure business... I already have a Tamron 17-50! If I can only stay off RFD maybe I'll be able to save up for the PLM version coming out soon *droool :)

Check out dxomark, the Pentax lens does worse than the Sigma 17-50mm.

You're good with the Tamron
