[London Drugs] Olympus E-M5 MKII with 12-50mm F3.5-6.3 Lens

Seemed like a great deal to me as I was in the market for a new compact camera. Combine with MasterPass deal to get an extra $25 off.

I wish that the PEN-F gets a discount similar to this. I have an E-M1 and am thinking about selling it so I can get the PEN-F.

I'm also looking for the PEN-F too. I want the 20MP sensor as an upgrade. It seems that it's due for a price drop/discount, The cheapest it's been is $1299. I think the EM5 is due for the next upgrade to MkIII status.

Waiting for the pen-f to drop below $1k

In USA the refurb pen-f has already dropped to 699, too bad Olympus closed the refurb store for Canadians

That really is too bad. I got my reconditioned M.Zuiko ED 12-40mm f2.8 PRO for CA$639.99+Tax from that section, around 3 years ago.

So, this a hot deal or not?! Definitely thinking about pulling the trigger... I still have my E-1 that desperately needs to retire, lol.

Hmm. I love my Mk1 EM5. Missing in-body HDR picture processing though. Wonder if this is worth pulling the trigger on as I already have that lens. Anyone know if the lens is easy to sell? Is this worth the upgrade or are there any old EM1s around?

It’s a hot deal IF you can use the lens. The body has been as low as $850 so you are paying $150 for the lens.

The lens is better than the normal kit EM10 lens (14-42) in that it’s weatherproof, has power zoom with internal zooming, and has more range (especially wider angle), so it would be good as a general purpose lens. It’s also good as a near macro lens (1:2 ratio I believe). Quality is decent.

My big beef with it is that it’s not a short lens and of course, the lens is slow (f3.5 starting) so it’s not going to do you any favors in low light.

Because these lenses are basically kit lenses, don’t expect to sell it for very much (relative to its standalone price)

This is a good deal, but if you're not married to Olympus and video isn't important to you, IMO the Fuji X-T1 is a better stills shooter (better sensor, better AF, Fuji film simulations, etc), much better ergonomics and comes with a better lens, all for just $50-70 more

the M5 (body only) is currently on sale for $850 until October. personally, i'd wait out for mk3 as it's really due for an update. once that is known, you can then decide between getting a cheaper mk2 or jumping on the mk3

for example, the m10 mk2 is a much better deal than the newly announced m10 mk3 which doesn't have much of an update

Yup, I got the E-m10 mk2 after my mk1 em5 broke down with shutter problems. I don't need the extra features on em5 and the e-m10 mk2 was under $600 after tax
