[London Drugs] Sony 65-in 4K HDR Ultra HD Android TV - XBR65X900H (and XBR65X950H) (Open Box) $1249.99

Picked up this TV yesterday.
It is listed as "Open Box" but the unit I received it's brand new (it shows 0 hours usage in the service menu) as it happened before with other open box TVs at London Drugs.
This is the last's year model and supposedly it will get a new firmware that will enable VRR and ALLM.
I think this is a good deal as long as you get a brand new unit.
XBR65X950H model also available as open box for $1499,99, but HDMI 2.1 support is rather limited.
Please be aware that the latest firmware version released last week is full of bugs according to AVS forum, so you may want to turn off automatic updates before connecting to internet.

Hot hot hot if you can find a new unit.

I'm pretty sure London Drugs just lists their clearance stock as open box to get around manufacturer minimum sell price/msrp.

Should I take the risk on shipping a 65” tv? I’m in Ontario.

This TV picture quality is amazing for the $

Software is sh*t - handshake issues, glitches, a whole wack

Would be the perfect TV without 'smart' features

That is pretty good deal for a brand new X900H TV for $1249.99.

I ordered the 65 x900h from Amazon around a month ago and they shipped it to me with Purolator ground from Ontario to Vancouver. When it got here they left it at the door upside down and the box was filthy.

Opened it up and the tv was pristine and works perfectly fine.

Let me just give Doc Brown a call, although I'm not sure the box would fit in the DeLorean.

As compared to what? Android isn't as fluid as Tizen or WebOS but the selection of apps and the fact the updates are consistent is great. It's nearly foolproof doing anything with a Sony tv if you have an Android phone.

I can also confirm this. Great looking tv but got some weird bugs. Also, mine came with some screen protection tape on it and its left a residue.... Anyone know how to safely get this off??

I have not used other TV OS except Android. This TV has been upgraded to Android 10. I find Android OS very robust and no issues. Secondly, Android apps is another plus. Google integration is also nice. You can control TV from Google Home etc.

All the handshake issues are with soundbars. I have rarely heard anyone complaining with AVR. It is getting better with every firmware update. There is a famous ARC/eARC audio cut off issue but again it is more an issue on soundbars and not AVRs. I have 11 years old Pioneer receiver. When I got this TV, I was very susceptible that ARC won't work properly on my old AVR but I was wrong.

This is a June 2019 release right, not 2020?
