Pretty good deal, was looking for an x900h. Anyone know why LD labels these as "Open box" ?

If my recollection serves me correctly (which it often fails!), X950H does not support HDMI 2.1 and X900H does. While X950H has a "better" picture quality, X900H is more for gaming. I am ready to be proven wrong...

Shoot - didn’t see the open box. Not so hot a deal

i believe in past london drugs posts about open box tvs, the tvs are brand new. they list them as open box to get around the manufacturer restrictions on pricing.

This is an “open box” item from LD. In the past, people have received brand new in box units. I called around to some local LD locations about their 1-2 stock in store and they were all floor demos. No one at LD could confirm if their online stock is shared with stores either so I didn’t bite. Ended up buying a brand new 65” X90J from Visions for $1798 (negotiated $200 off their sale price). YMMV…

Does anyone know what are improvements vs 900e…my plasma died and i like my 900e.

• X950H is technically a better television, gets brighter, but worse contrast due to X-Wide filter for better viewing angles.
• X900H is "good enough" for most people. Has HDMI 2.1 with significant limitations. I don't think HDMI 2.1 should be a deciding factor between these two TVs. HDMI 2.1 is limited to 4K120 OR Dolby Vision. 4K120 does not resolve at full-resolution, people think it's a hardware limitation. Uses a sharpening filter to get the image closer to proper 4K120 but it's never going to be the same. Also there are issues with eARC with 4K120. X900H/X950H recently got an interface facelift and it's quite nice- pairs recommendations with your channels but the channels remain very prominent (YouTube Recommended, Trending, Netflix Recommended, etc).
• X90J is the 2021 version of the X900H. Has the same SoC (same CPU performance) but adds a new image processing chip so the 4K120 blur issue is resolved. HDMI 2.1 is still limited to 4K120 OR Dolby Vision and eARC continues to have issues. Best contrast. Runs Google TV. I personally dislike it because the recommendations are limited only to supported apps (for me, it's Prime Video and Disney) and the Channel concept is completely gone aside from YouTube so no more Netflix Recommended at all, Disney Watchlist, etc. On the plus side, there is now "Continue Watching" for supported apps. I think once more apps become supported (in recommendations and continue watching), I'll like it a lot more.

Sony continuing to use these crummy Mediatek SoC is likely culprit for a lot of issues.

I used to have X800D which ran the same Mediatek SOC and it was hot garbage in terms of responsiveness. Prime Video was basically unusable. You almost need to purchase another media player to enjoy apps. The new SOC in the above TVs are dramatically better.

X900E was surpassed by X900F which is well-known for good PQ. They were top-of-the-line 4K LCD TVs at the time. This is now the X950-series. Having said that, X900E brightness is not very good in 2021... about the same as X90J. I think you would be quite pleased with an upgrade to X90J.

Nice!!! I bought the 65” X950G last year May for $1399 and really liked it. Considering the X950H is better than the G, I’d say this is a good buy for $1499. Also bought it from London drugs and have no issues

I have been eyeing this TV for almost a year. But couldnt justify the price.
I like the colour compare to other TV, contrast isnt really an issue, I value viewing angle over contrast.

But i am wondering if anyone know about pricematching this in Ontario would work -- and with whom?

Who will you price match on a 2020 model tv that nobody has BNIB anymore? These are excellent TVs but why not just get the newer models?

$1250 bnib for sure I’d get a 900. 950 is still too much for a tiny bit of improvement.

The 950H is known for having good reflection handling and getting very bright.
