Looking for cool running usb flash drive

I was using an old 8gb OCZ flash drive for music in my car and noticed that it was pretty hot.
Never thought much about it and kept on using it.
After 2 years of being in my car, it died.
I dig out a Kingston 32gb and this one is running even hotter. Wonder how long before this one dies?

Does anyone have a suggestion for a cooler running usb flash drive? Don't really need more than 32gb since it's just music.

Its hard to say which ones to get, since leaving cheaper electronics in a high temp range environment like that is bound to kill things a lot faster. I definitely would suggest not using anything USB 3.0 since they already run hot even not loaded much. Probably something with endurance in the name will be your best bet since those are meant to run hot for extended periods of time, but they are also more expensive.

If an OCZ one lasted 2 years, I bet the Kingston runs for 10. If you're concerned, break off the outside casing; that will increase it's cooling capacity dramatically. Of course, make sure it can't touch anything metal once you do that.

If you buy a new flash drive them maybe look for one with a metal case. Then stick a heat sink onto it. The heat sink is supposed to draw the heat away from whatever the heat sink is attached to. I'm thinking that the smaller the flash drive the more heat there would be so maybe look for a larger flash drive?
