Looking for new LED TV suggestions (50-60”)

Hi, in the market for a new LED TV that’s between 50 and 60 inches. My budget is less than $1400.

I’ve done quite a bit of reading on new TV tech as of late but OLED is a bit more than I’d like to spend right now.

I had my eye on this 55 inch Sony X900H at Costco but seems like it’s been OOS for a while.

I don’t necessarily need a new TV now, I have heard that Black Friday week has some good deals, but I’ve also heard that a lot of electronics sold during Black Friday are lower quality products intended to be sold at a sale price, not sure if that’s still true.

I’m open to TV suggestions if it’s a good time to buy right now.

Retailers stock up ahead of Christmas, and start offering sale prices in the month leading up to Christmas. But they don't want to overstock, particularly now in uncertain times, so they will run out of the more popular models before Christmas. The best time to buy is early in that month before Christmas, when the model you want is in stock, and you can buy it from a retailer that offers 30-day price adjustment. Then watch the sales carefully for those 30 days.

Many retailers stock up on a few cheap models to offer headline sales on Boxing Day, but you are correct that those are typically low-end. Also note that most retailers won't price match or price adjust based on Boxing Day sales, even if you found a sale on your chosen model.

There are some pretty good looking LCD sets these days. The new Samsung QLED Neo models with FAD (full array dimming) look almost as good as OLED in the store - but they cost even more!

Thanks for the detailed response, I appreciate it. Will look to buy closer to Black Friday or Boxing Day.

Doubt the X900H models will come back in stock since it has been superseded by this year's new X900J model. So if you do happen to see one and you like the price, buy it. Or else like above poster say wait till Black friday/boxing day since most likely the price offered at those times will be the lowest you'll be able to easily find. TVs could be priced lower than the black friday/ boxing day prices, BUT it'll be at end of model year blow out when there are a few left, which means you'll have to be lucky/at the right place and right time to get one.

I'm in the market for a new TV as well, but I'm looking for 75 inch or more.

Saw some decent priced ones at Costco.

I really don't need anything fancy, but a smart tV:
1- easy OS to use.
2- netflix, amazon prime, tsn, youtube apps
3- can connect to my network and view files/vidoes on my hard drive

I currently have an older Samsugn smart TV that does all of this stuff. and the OS on the TV works for my needs..... if I could get an 70-85inch inch for under $1400 that would be ideal

A few thoughts on " if it’s a good time to buy right now." given Justin Trudeau's expenditures and promises of late, the CDN dollar is going to take a big hit on the world exchange. I see the spectre of inflation starting to hit and re-ording imported goods will likely see price adjustments. Uncertainty is going to mean very conservative buying patterns all round which suggests scarcity and record inflation. I note Amazon Prime days didn't happen in Canada this year, those counting on a Black Friday may be disappointed in the lack of enthusiasm from both retailers and consumers with that reflection in the prices.

Bottom line: if you like it, buy it, there may be no better time!
