[Lowe's] [American Standard - Champion 4] 2-piece, elongated, chair height toilet - $241.2

This is the home depot link

https://www.homedepot.ca/product/americ ... 1001237138

Model# 2793528NT.020.

Price match it at Lowe's for another 10% off.

Been looking at toilets, noticed this, thought I'd post it, but I have no idea if it's good or not. The reviews I read online are quite split, they either hate it or love it, but I did see a lot of pictures of the porcelain cracking and what not, so I am a bit concerned. But the reason I am tempted is because their claim of "virtually clog-free" flush, and it features 2 3/8 trapway instead of the regular 2 1/8. And yes, I sometimes have gigantic logs.

Right now I'm torn between this, Kohler highline, and Kohler Cimarron. And yes, I know about Toto Drake, but I would prefer to stay under $400 lol.

Plumbers feel free to chime in!

This toilet is not worth the shit I drop into it, IT'S GARBAGE.

Issues with the flush valve leaking due to manufacturing defects, I'm on my 3rd flush valve seal. Issues with slow flush because of the trash flush valve design. Everytime I have guests it's embarrassing because I have to teach them how to use it otherwise they sit in the bathroom forever flushing again and again thinking they broke my toilet.

Look on youtube there's loads of videos of issues with this toilet and the janky fixes people try to make it half work.

Don't cheap out on a toilet, you use it everyday. American Standard Cadet series is good, as well as Toto Drake 2.

When it comes to plumbing supplies the big box stores don't get the best quality, you're better off going to a local plumbing supply store, they will be able to get you something that actually works for your budget, and their selection is much larger.

Bad reviews are not posted. They get deleted.

Anyways will not but a toilet from lowes or Home Depot. Toilets are made exclusively for them and parts are hard to get.

I bought a Champion 4 from Lowes when they were having a promotion of installing certain toilets for free in 2012. My toilet was professionally installed. After 10 years of usage, I had a few problems.

1) The two bolts and rubber grommets that hold the tank and bowl together started leaking after 6 years. Perhaps it is just bad rubber for the grommets. I had to remove the bolts and add plumber's putty around the grommets and re-tighten to stop the leak.
2) The toilet seat keeps falling down. I complained about this after it was installed, but Lowes just said it is my house's fault for not having level floor. I later checked my floor leveling, it is just slightly off. You are supposed to add shims if the floor isn't level, but guess the installer didn't do that. In the end, I just shifted the toilet tank lid a bit back to allow the toilet seem some extra room.
3) Over-fill and siphoning noise started happening after 9 years. The fill valve would just never shut off and the tank would keep filling. In the end, it was fixed by replacing the below seal. It was suprisingly easy to replace.

4) The toilet is powerful, but loud as heck. I bought it because it has I think one of the highest flush power with a 4" flush valve. Not good if it is near a bedroom. Never has it clogged due its flush power.

The nice part is that American Standard has a nice warranty. I phoned them and told them my problems and they sent me a whole new flush assembly including a fluidmaster fill assembly and flush valve assembly for free with little questions asked. They also sent me a slow close toilet seat to fix my toilet seat slamming problems. I just never bothered to install the slow close seat.

I never had the ghost flush problem or aka the flush valve seal problem that is described on youtube. My flapper is light blue-colored. It has been 10 years, but I had other problems.

The elongated toilet seat is not for everyone. The toilet seat height is higher than some other toilets. Taller people may like it as it is easier to get up.

My father doesn't like the toilet because he is short. The elongated seat may not be ideal for small women as it has a larger opening to fall it.

Again, the toilet is really loud when it flushes, but is has great flush power.

We have three champions installed for approximately 5 years now.

Only one had issues very recently with flush and American standard sent entire new flush assembly.

In my opinion, I really like the American standard brand as my customer service experience with them has always been great.

Even for tall men a dining chair seating position is not good for taking a dump, lower is better physiologically.

You can buy toilet stool though to solve this problem.

These series of toilet were installed in my cheap new townhouse by cheap builder/installers but still in use after 20 years, not broken except changing of valves a few times. every new homebuyers nearby threw them away at renovation as a rule

I can only tell you to google the champion 4 on youtube and listen to a flush. I remember seeing a demo with a guy flushing balls at some convention.

Agreed. I have three of these Champion 4 toilets, one that is an older 6L per flush model, and the other two 4.8L per flush. The 6L per flush one actually has a decent flush, but the 4.8L ones are very weak. You have to hold the handle down for the best flush, and sometimes guests don't know this. I also have issues of it leaking from the valve seal, and one of them has a crack in the bowl.

I'm not sure what all the complaints are about. I installed two of these in our place about five years ago (couldn't say if I have the 4.8 or the 6.0L model) and I've never had a problem with either one. They almost never get clogged, which was my biggest problem with the old toilets we had.

OP, also check this out.. $369 on lowes but $298 on HD, so can have price beat to $268.

In my opinion, out of all the toilets that were on display at lowes, this was the nicest looking (if looks matter). We recently got this installed in our guest bathroom so don't have much feedback. But seems to be working ok as of now.

This is some of the best advice you can receive. Every toilet I have ever had that didn’t say Toto in it was a big disappointment.

That’s not to say that others aren’t good but Toto’s are always good. Given that they get used quite a lot by the average family it’s a good investment to get one that works well all the time.

I really like the Ultramax but they are crazy expensive. The Drake 2 is pretty affordable from a plumbing supply house and I have 3 in rental apartments that tenants haven’t yet been able to plug. That’s saying something.

Someone asked about one in Vaughn… Noble plumbing has a location there and they used to carry Toto for good prices. Not sure if they still do.

wait whats the point of these? the point of the stool is to have my ass lower than my knees when my feet are on the floor. with this, it raises my ass and my feet both the same height

Unrelated to the toilet OP is posting, but do you guys think I need to replace my toilet which has hairline cracks on the edge of the bowl and inside the bowl.

This is an AquaArt toilet, original from the builder.

They were sold by this company I think: https://www.fibretechbc.ca/products
