[Lowe's] CertainTeed Fibreglass Insulation R12/R20

Hey guys, never posted here but this seemed worthwhile.

Lowes is selling their CertainTeed f/g insulation for half off. I'm managing to insulate my whole basement for roughly $250. Cheapest I've ever seen insulation bags go for.

Pretty sure its only for 16" O.C. though.

They're clearing old stock because the R value is insufficient for Ontario building code. Hence the deeper deals on these.

Great deal, even better with the ebates promo PLUS $10 off lowes coupon popped up for spending >$230

I have a stepped foundation with both rolled (below ground) and R22 bats above ground in the basement. Will be taking out the rolled crap and leaving the R22 bats, while adding this r12 for the entire wall.

Entire basement done for $250...wow

Crazy eh! I'll be finishing my garage (two walls still need insulated and around the garage doors) for $112, likely with pack to spare. Incredible!

I didn’t think about my garage exterior empty wall! Did you pull down drywall to do this or already exposed?

Mine are exposed.

Today is last of the sale, but you could likely order tonight for in-store pickup.

I used R20 + R12 in 2x10 garage ceiling as we have master bedroom above it.
Good insults are hard to find. Why waste them on someone you don't like.

is it possible to use this for the attic? I think I heard you're suppose to use "spray on" type insulation, but does this work if you just kinda lay it down?

I picked up 12 bags of this stuff for my newly built detached garage. Was perfect timing and I've never seen insulation on sale this low. I was initially thinking Rockwool but can't go wrong at this price

I am curious as well. Infact cut in half R20 (thickness) and lay it down or buy the R12 which is 3.5inches thick.

why would you cut it down? Do you have limited space? I was thinking of putting R20 or 2 layers of R12 if it would help my horrendous old house insulation issues! If it is doable.. do people recommend 1 layer of R20 or 2 layers of R12? I was thinking the 2 layers of R12 might equal to R24? I'm not sure if it works that way though.. lol
