Dead deal

Deal Link:
Price:
4.99
Savings:
20.99
Retailer:
Lowes
***dead deal. Bulbs are not Energy Star like I was told, coupons don't apply***

Lowes has in the front page of their flyer; Sylvania A19 8.5-Watt (60-Watt) Daylight LED Light Bulbs, 8-Pack for half price at $12.99.

There is still energy saver coupons on until September 2017 $8.00 off of multI pack bulbs.
https://saveonenergy.ca/Consumer/Progra ... UPONS.aspx

YMMV only because the coupon says it does not apply to already discounted prices however, people (including myself) haven't seemed to have too much issue using the coupons on sale items.

12.99 x tax then coupon is applied after tax so in Ontario it would come to 6.68 ÷ 8 = $0.84 a bulb after tax.

Big YMMV for most of the country. Fine print on the coupon says Ontario residents.

I stand corrected. I called Lowes and they told me these ones are.

I'm not convinced, This Sylvania bulb packaging design has been used for their cheaper line of non energy star rated bulbs. Calling them in this case may have led to an employee who thought the same that any LED is energy star rated and didn't really check. Can anyone personally confirm it has the logo on it?
In fact in Rand McNally they wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people

So then the deal is $12.99, not $4.99. The coupon is not specific to this pack.
And $12.99 + $1.69 HST = $14.68 - $8.00 = $6.68 = equivalent to $5.91 before tax, not $4.99.
But thanks, good deal for LED bulbs, if they're decent quality. Sylvania is a well-known brand, but accorging to Amazon.com reviews, their LED bulbs don't last very long and the replacement cost negates the low price.

Odd, i consider Philips and Sylvania to be the high end in LED bulbs, i have purchased, used and given away hundreds of them to many people i know without a single failure.
The only problem i ever had was a dropped a Philips bulb and shattered the glass casing, i e-mailed them to ask if there is any reason i should not still use it and never received a reply.

On a serious note, thanks OP. Good deal on LED bulbs if you can stack the coupon.

I went to Lowe's on Taunton Rd in Whitby. The coupon was not allowed to be applied on these bulbs as they are not Energy Star. They do not have the Energy Star logo. This deal is very YMMV.

Sucks, thanks for checking it out. Obviously they guy I spoke to didn't have a clue.

Might as well lock this up then. No deal other than the standard 50% off. Sorry for wasting everyone's time!

Thanks for your reply, disappointing that they are not coupon eligible but i'm not surprised.
However i'm sure there will be a few reports that people got lucky and the store accepted it without noticing.

8 bulbs for $12.99 is still not a bad deal in itself. Works out to about $1.83 each. Not great, but still a deal.
