I don't have a big yard but i wouldn't call my yard small either, and haven't had much problems having the battery last. I actually have never run out on one charge but have never mowed more than 40 min (if that helps anyone). You're right, it is small but it's the ideal size for me because it's easy to get around tight areas between trees and the garden.
