[Lowe's] Lowe's - Yellow tag clearance - YMMV

In the spirit of the Home Depot clearance thread here's one for Lowe's.

This is some of the stuff seen at Lowe's Queensborough, New Westminster

Seem to be clearing out Kobalt branded tools.

Wonder if they're replacing Kobalt with Craftsman...?

Not sure but it seemed a lot of the Craftsman stuff was a "New Lower Price"

I was under the impression that they were replacing Porter Cable with Craftsman.

There's been a lot of chatter on tool forums about Craftsman being the Porter Cable replacement. It makes sense too because they are almost in the same tier of tool - many Craftsman 20v products even appear to be based off of existing Porter Cable tools. Would seem obvious that the two brands (both also owned by the Stanley-Black and Decker-Dewalt tool group) would cannibalize sales from each other. Craftsman is the better-known brand, so it would seem to be the winner in a fight.

However, there's been no evidence so far that Lowes is clearing out Porter Cable so it remains to be seen. Rona however, has put some Porter Cable tools on clearance - and Lowes owns Rona. In Canada, there's really only Lowes, Rona and Amazon retailing Porter Cable 20v tools. If Lowes and Rona do dump the brand...

The Kobalt clearance however, appears to be consistent across all the stores. So it certainly looks like Kobalt shelf-space will be taken over by Craftsman. There's a rumor that Lowes will keep the brand alive mostly through an on-line retail channel (maybe ship-to-store?).

I still remembered the 60v Kobalt mower was $349 last Sep/Oct. Doesn't sound right the sticker price still shows $449. Better ask the staff to scan the sticker and confirm price if anyone is interested.

Some of the yellow tag stuff at my local Lowe's has been there for over a year. They should just put some real reduced prices and clear this crap out.. then maybe people will buy it. They're trying to sell fridges with dents in them for 10% off the regular price... Cabinets that are ready for the garbage for 20% off. What kind of discount is that ?

Provide some real clearance prices and we will talk. Or if it's a big ticket item it may be worth talking to the store manager and telling them the prices aren't realistic. Any reasonable guy would probably agree and give you a discount. The manager at the Brantford Lowe's knocked over 250 off the clearance price for my self-propelled lawn mower that was a return item.

It was listed for almost 500 regular price. It looked like someone used it for an entire summer before returning it. It wasn't even put together properly and they were asking $425. I got it for 200. It was basically a used lawn mower that I bought so I don't even think it was that great of a deal and I probably wouldn't have bought it if I knew that.

Just one of many experiences I've had at Lowe's which are generally good if you can speak to the right person.

The best deal you are going to get on anything at Lowe's is the same as Home Depot.. and that's when someone returns an item they bought online but the store doesn't carry it in stock (special return). These are the real clearance deals as they mark these down way more for some reason

Agree with this particularly on the special returns. Have gotten some amazing deals at HD with the online return stuff which seems to start at 50% off. Recently got an Aquarius pulse shower system for around $80 because it was an unopened special order return (-50%) on the clearance rack that was an extra 25% off.
