This is a steal for a great saw... brand used to be "Hitachi."

Had one a few years back and made the mistake of "upgrading" to a high-end 12" saw and sold the Hitachi. It was probably my favourite, and most used power tool, aside from drills. It was effectively as good as other 10" "high-end" saws but is freaky-light somehow... which you don't notice till it's gone.

Built 3 decks, a retaining wall, 2 fences, lots of wood (laminate + hardwood) flooring, and god knows how much window/door/floor trim. Never a problem, highly recommended.

(Talking myself into buying it again...)

Been using this one for over a year to build my home. Really glad i didnt go with a heavier 12" or slider as I'm constantly moving it from room to room. I do occasionally run into a wider board that i have to flip over to finish the cut, but for the price, it can't be beat, especially if you're only a casual DIYer or need to be mobile. You can easily carry it one handed.

one thing i truly love about metabo HPT is that they sell a battery ac/dc adapter. You can use it on any of their power tools so you dont have to spend huge amount of money to buy their battery

That's ☝️ only for Multivolt Metabo. Not applicable for this saw.

Great saw. Adjustments were easy to make. Lightweight. Made moving it around less of a chore. Sure beats lugging the 12 inch slider when you don't need the additional cutting capacity.

I bought a 7-1/4 mitre saw because of this. I got tired of lugging the 12" out of the basement every time I wanted to use it. The 12" is superior in performance but for majority of the jobs I'm doing around the house I don't need that cutting capacity and the 7-1/4 is so light and easy to handle.

I am not quite sure what blade comes with the saw, but Lowes has a 3 pack of 10" Metabo blades HERE on clearance for $30. YMMV. I am not able to comment on the quality as I have never used Metabo blades.

If this was sliding I'd be all over it, but I assume this isnt going to cut wider laminate flooring. (8" or so)

I went for it. Stores have quite a few of them here in Edmonton, I'm thinking there's a chance they lower it even more but we'll see.

Aside from cutting 5x5 deck posts, I dont think I ever needed the cutting depth of the 12. If I were to do it again, I'd go with a smaller slider as well.
