[Lowe's] [Rona] Greenworks 40V 20-in Snow Thrower and Axial Blower with 1 x 4.0 AH Battery and Charger $299

This was $315 in the summer. May be the all time low with the blower as an add on.

Reviews are terrible. seemingly it is under powered and not suitable for "wet snow".

Be careful of the battery life.
I have the Greenworks 40v lawnmower, the battery seems same with this one.
My first battery died after first winter and warranty is only one year. I had to buy a new one for around $150+tax 2 years ago but now it only last 10 mins for a full charge.
I will not buy any battery power tool from this company.
Never again! HTC , Wind Mobile , Air China

I feel like even at 40v a snowblower would be under powered especially when clearing the snow bank. Even corded units struggle with snow banks.

40V seems pretty brutal - aren't the ego ones like 2x56V?

The reviews seem fairy genuine and users were genuinely frustrated except for the first guy who didn’t RTFM LOL

Corded tools are generally limited to 1.6kW (110V x 15A.) Lithium batteries on the other hand can go much higher. 40V * 4Ah gives you 160Wh battery. Quality lithium cells can discharge at 20+C which would give you 3.2kW of power. That combined with the fact that brushless motors are typically more efficient than cage induction motors like they probably use plug in models you can get a lot more power from batteries than mains.
I have the 80V kobalt version of this (which Id be pretty certain is pretty much identical except for the motor being designed for 80V) and it's not bad. It is better than shoveling in most situations but you're still going to have to get the shovel out for the end of the driveway. My biggest complaint is that I only have 1 battery for it and if it snows a lot it definitely needs more, I will probably switch to Ego if I get a chance since Im in their battery ecosystem for everything else and I expect its a much better tool (at a much higher price)
