Lumia 635 owners whose phone was not migrated to Win 10

As you know, Microsoft decided to not upgrade the Lumia 635 with 512MB of RAM to Win 10. Being an eternal optimist, on Friday I went to the Microsoft Store at Eaton Centre in Toronto to ask them if there would be a second wave of upgrades that would include the 512MB phones.
A Microsoft rep asked me if I would be interested in upgrading to a new phone if he would give me a credit for my Lumia 635. Knowing that a 635 currently sells for about USD20-30 at WalMart in the US, I wasn't expecting much, but I went along with it. He looked it up in the system and to my surprise, he offered me around $160 for it. So, after paying $45.20, I am now the proud owner of a Lumia 650 (1GB RAM) with Win 10 on it.
Just wanted to share this with any 635 owners who are frustrated to be stuck with Win 8.1 on a 635.

Nice, i should try with my Lumia 1020.

I think this probably applies to all Lumia phones that didnt get *officially* upgraded to Win 10

Wow, that was awfully smart and nice of MS to make that offer. Otoh, MS is the underdog in the cellphone wars so it makes sense.

The 640 was sold as W10 ready, there is no reason for them to do that. But it would have been nice, hehe :D

Indeed, only mention i find on their site is for 920, 925 and 1020 for $200 credit towards 950 and 950XL. But seriously, 950XL for $850? There's no way that it's $150 more than the Nexus 6P...even with the $200 credit it's still too expensive imo.

Going to see if I can get more than $200 if I go to a Microsoft store. If a 635 can get $160, maybe a 1020 can get $400?

I have a Lumia 635 AT&T GoPhone that I bought from amazon.com for $50 CAD 1.5 years ago. I guess its not bad deal to try and upgrade to 650 for an extra $45 or so.
635 doesn't have built in Equalizer and that really annoys me.

some cheap 635 on Kijiji ($40 or so). May be worth buying if the trade in is definitely confirmed.

Same boat...kinda regret buying two phones back then as back-up wind phones LOL but this trade in will sweeten up the deal if it works

FYI, I contacted both the Toronto Eaton Centre and Yorkdale locations and they both said they are only providing the following deals:

Trade in your Lumia 920, 925 or 1020 and
receive $200 toward a Lumia 950 or 950XL

When I mentioned that they had provided a trade in on a Lumia 635, they said that would only be permitted under exceptional circumstances (this came from the contact at the Eaton Centre).

Best way to find out is to step into the store and ask.
