I buy one of these every year for Valentines day. It's just random makeup stuff for the wife. My wife likes it and it's not expensive.

From my experience with these boxes:
1) No, you get no choice of colours or shades. You get whatever they put in the box. If you order 2 boxes you may get identical colours of the same product, or you may get lucky and get same item in multiple shades.
2) The value is pretty heavily inflated. You typically get 1 full-sized nail polish, a full-sized lipstick/stain/gloss product, a full-sized eye shadow/blush/bronzer type product, and a couple of samples.
3) May include big name products like Urban Decay, but often boutique or niche brands.

I have attached a picture from the winter box (December 2021) showing the items I received.

I can personally justify treating myself to these boxes a couple times a year through the AMEX promos, but would never pay full-price anything like this because the value is set based on MSRP.

For $22 though it makes a great gift and a happy wife/gf!
