MacBook : Purchase date not validated message

Curious, if upon entering a serial number of MacBook Pro, one gets this message, then what does that imply?

One would imply you can phone Apple support to discuss. Most likely there's a bit of a discrepancy between when you actually purchased the computer, and when Apple assumes it would have been purchased based on their algorithms.

Assuming you bought it retail, have your proof of purchase handy and call them. It's easy to update this info and it's important for warranty.

This happened with the Beats Solo3s I bought from Walmart on clearance.

It wouldn't let me update the purchase date online and I ended up having to schedule a call with Apple to get it done. They did it with no issues once I provided the receipt.

I’ve had this happen when buying from Staples. Other retailers will cause similar as well. Seems like only Best Buy and Apple directly flag the purchase date on purchase.

The times I’ve had it happen I just set the purchase date on apples website and that was that.
