Kind of an odd question for RFD but not sure who to ask. Looking for someone or a shop who has a metal lathe which can turn a small shaft to 7/16" diameter. It's a small job that might take 5 min to perform so a manufacturing company wouldn't be interested. There are two high schools in Peel that have a machine shop but have not contacted them due to the strike.
Hoping for advice on who could provide such a service.
For those interested in the project, I want to add a regular drill chuck to an old fashioned bit brace. This allows use of spade and regular drill bits instead of the odd square taper auger bits. See this brilliant article. The photo is of the Morse Taper 2 shaft to be machined.
