Did they take Amex? Or Visa/MC only?
Amex Cobalt - MBNA RWE - Brim WE
Amex Platinum - Bonvoy Brilliant Amex - CIBC Aeroplan VIP

Whichever new card that passes the following tests:
  1. You qualify for it
  2. The vendor accepts it
  3. Has a handsome welcome offer

i saw few credit cards which offer attractive welcome offer sbut upon reading there are clauses like *on 2,000 purchase or max $xx rebate
i shoudl qualify, individual and household income is 140/250k

It's still a net gain.

If you...
...use current 1% E.E. earn card you get $100
...switch to new card with a "10% on $2k" welcome bonus + 1% E.E earn, you get $280
...switch to new card with a "10% on $4k" welcome bonus + 2% E.E earn, you get $520

And that's just cashback cards with the assumption you cannot split the payment across more than one card. If you can split, then you can utiilze more offers.

Finally, the Travel Rewards side of the house has more valuable offers available than the Cash Back side (as usual). There are a few cards out there looking for $6000 (or more) to trigger their welcome bonus (e.g. HSBC, all the co-branded RBC airline cards, and some others besides.)
