Male : Female Professors

I'm just wondering, because at my high school the percentage is probably about 40% Male 60% Female, I would think that there are a lot more male professors at University? Maybe 80:20 or lower/higher?

I had very few female teachers, there's only 1 who had something real to offer. Most of them were indecipherable, or thought it'd be more fun to socialize with other teachers...in other classes.

When I did my biochem undergrad at UOttawa, the ratio of male to female profs was about 1:1.

More science professors are male, more social science/humanities professors are male, but there is a much higher percentage in the sciences.

Many younger faculty are female since universities are trying to make up for their hiring prejudice of the last 1000 years or so (female professors/teachers were turfed in England around the year 1000 and not seen again until the last century, with some exceptions).

At York, it's about 70/30, with the ratio going the way you'd expect.

I'm in arts and media studies at Western and the split's been about 60m/40f so far. However, when it comes to tenured professors, the split is more like 80m/20f.

I'd say three quarters of my profs are female. But I'm in an arts program :P

Male profs are just as moody.

In my two years of undergrad I've had 4 female profs and 9 male profs. As an aside, about 50% of my TAs have been female.
