This is probably some sort of plan to steal our identities, will be sold to people in China. LOL. Really though, why need to prove citizenship? You are in Canada, big chance you are a citizen (even if you aren't does it matter to them)

As a landed immigrant but not a citizen, just wow... this is the worst kind of racism: racism against me personally.

I wouldn't be caught dead anywhere near a Mandarin on July 1st. Really, who would waste their time/sanity waiting in line for this?

Why is everyone assuming all locations will have lines for miles? I just went to the Nandos free meal yesterday one hour before the deal was dead and there was ZERO line.

For premium gas, Shell's V-Power is 145.9 while Costco no-ethanol 91 is 125.9. A savings of 20/L cents on a 50L is $10. A 5-15 minute wait is definitely worth it for this.

For regular gas, I don't know why people would waste their time filling up, unless they're at the Dixie location in Mississauga. It's simply not worth it.

I lined up with my friends one year when we were all university students and it honestly wasn't that bad. Got there around 10:30am, restaurant opened at 11:30am, ate around 12:30pm. After the first batch of people got let in, my friends were close to the front, probably like 3rd or 4th? Anyways, it's not as bad as people make it out to seem or maybe I was just lucky that day.

It wasn't that bad? You got there at 10:30 and ate around 12:30, what's the min hourly wage again? was it worth your time?

I stopped going to Mandarin after they stopped serving crab legs. Did they bring them back yet or still absent?

The minimum amount saved for me to wait in a let's say 1-2h line is 200$ and the product / item must worth way more than soya macaroni and beef brocoli.

But i recall did wait in line 20 years ago for the first xbox...omg good old souvenirs.

Not that I'll take advantage of this travesty but the commenters who kept putting a price tag on the wait time have to remember those who line up can't just flip a switch and be magically employed for a few hours on Canada Day.

To each of their own.
