She started the stand 2 weeks ago but only selling the regular mangoes. I asked her when will she have the Indian mangoes and she said late June likely. Grinning Face With Smiling Eyes

this lady sells special breeds of mangos you cannot get at the local supermarkets only a few weeks out of the whole year. Way more expensive, but apparently it is worth it according to the guys in here.

...and with no relation to the guy that sells Mexican mangos over @ Bellamy & Eglinton, I believe...?

Yeah. For $48/dozen. High costs due to Covid transportation costs I guess. Normally they are around $30 or less a dz. $4 per mango is a bit much even for me.

I'm not finding that. (at least, not a lot)
I remember a time when Asparagus was a luxury item served in upscale restaurants. Now it can be bought for only $2.99 a bunch (or sometimes by weight)
Remember when Cauliflower & Broccoli were crazy sky high? That came back down.
Head lettuce is holding on @ $2.99. Yes, that is more than I'd like to pay, but at least it's not increasing.
Mangos though have always been a luxury, unless we're talking about the basic grocery store low cost (possibly smaller) mangos, which still exist today.

goddamn, the prices went from 29.99 to 50 real quick.

These stores sell for $42, search "panchvati supermarkets".

Any Indian grocery store will carry mangoes when in season. Always smell the mangoes first. If you get a nice sweet smell, they're the real thing.

I got scammed last year and got Mexican mangoes in an Indian/Pakistan mango box. Learned my lesson the expensive way.
