Manufacturer’s Rebate

Is the manufacturer’s rebate calculated after tax? Let’s say Honda Canada has a $1000 dollar rebate for a new Civic (lease/financed). Is this amount calculated after tax? Meaning, I would only be getting $870 as an actual rebate?

Manufacturer's rebates are calculated before taxes.

Thanks for the replies, as I wanted to make sure I was not getting shafted. I was at a Honda dealership and the guy mentioned that the $1000 rebate translates to $870 off the price of the vehicle as the rebate is after taxes. Looks like Honda has the same policy as Toyota and Lexus

Honda factory rebates are applied after taxes, but dealer discount is applied before.
