Why the 100k max? What a waste of time.

What do Terms and Conditions say about clients who had this account previously?

Who of those clients qualify for the promo and who doesn't?

Ya... I figured so as well (by looking at OP's link). ... But can't enter it over at the link anyhow ... the button isn't working / isn't doing anything for me anyhow.

I am currently in Opera ... maybe will try to enter the promo code in different browser later.

Anyone was able to successfully enter the promo code ... and "move past OP's link" ... to the next screen? :)

Ya... kinda low. I agree.

Might work for me anyhow though ... as I only have left 150K in cash nowadays (after purchasing i think -- TING's 3.2% GIC - 5 year term and TING's 2.9% GIC - 2 year term with the rest of my spare cash) :)

Can put 100K to Manu ... leaving another 50K at Tanterine's 2.5% that I have there currently.

I can't find anything regarding previous accounts. I've had and closed one within the last year I believe.. However I did find this:
"To be eligible for this offer you must be an employee of a participating sponsor and apply online through
your Manulife Group Benefits/Group Retirement secure member portal, your alumni website or employer
website."

So it would be a risk imo. If you applied and deposited funds, only to find a month later you only earned 0.3% since you weren't really eligible. That would suck! May still give it a shot..

That was also a requirement for last year's promo. It was ignored by Manulife in practice.

if it's like their previous promotion, the rate may not hold the entire promotion period...so, their advertised rate doesn't mean much if they can actually lower it anytime during the promotion period.

i am done with this kind of "bs".

at least tang(cant tell for others bank) they keep their rate until the end of the promo.

It's 0.30% though currently ... the regular rate ... the lowest it can become is 0.00% LOL :)

I still have previous account open with $0.45. I logged in, open another account and It gave me 0.3% + 2.45%. I am scheduling a pull from Tangerine this Friday as my 3% there ends. I know they lowered their rate half way through the promotion last time, but it was still decent (was it 3.25% down to 3% or something?) still better than EQ

I left the account open from last promotion and it was easy to login and open another one, instantly. Now I have 2 accounts of the same but one with 2.75% and the other only 0.3%

Yeah the 0.30% is variable mostly depending on BoC interest rates decisions.

Closed the account last year, opened another and all seems good.

During the credit/identity questions it mentioned something about 'your credit profile indicates you have a loan/lease with Ford / Hyundai etc' however I have never had a loan or lease on anything before. Should I be concerned or is this normal to try to trick people into selecting one if they aren't the actual person? Credit karma does not show anything about it.

Thanks OP for the thread! Perfect timing with my Tangerine promo ending May 31st. Super easy to link an external account unlike HSBC and CIBC.
