Looking like spending the most money does not always mean much.

I don’t think anyone questions whether the US had the strongest medical and scientific capability to respond to the coronavirus.

Unfortunately, the US also had about the weakest president to respond to the coronavirus and a political system that supported his incompetence.

It's downright criminal how they squandered all that advantage.

A preparedness ranking based on sciences.

But USA is not driven by sciences, but rather by politics and the "leader" self interests & ego.

The US has one of the highest if not the highest spending on health care but their health care measures have consistently not reflected the money spent. (Going by memory before someone asks for the references)

One term - GIGO (Garbage In Garbage Out).

The systems and infrastructure wont give you magic results if your inputs are garbage.

The for-profit health care model in the USA is great... for profit.

But what about for health care? Relative to comparable countries...

Mortality is higher.

Premature deaths are higher.

Disease burden is higher.

Maternal mortality is higher.

Health care access and quality is lower.

But... but... profits are higher, and that’s what counts for some people.

Thanks for posting. Exactly what I was referring to. The great profit, opps, health care machine that provides health care to all Americans.

The UK also ranked pretty high according to that list and they got hit pretty hard due to politics as well so goes to show you leadership and political decisions are really what matter.
