Why is everyone picking the more expensive Hammonds Flip Flops when picking either of these flip flops does the same thing?

because the more expensive ones look better (IMO) I will actually keep and wear them (provided that the cheap boots work out for me as well)

I just got an update email and an additional charge on my credit card from Mark's. They charged the initial $31.19 for the Hammond Flip Flops ($16.98) + Men's Chasm Hiking boots ($12.72). Now I've just received a payment update email and an additional credit card charge of $17.83. Might have to cancel.
th
It may have been a placeholder for the initial total, then they charge when shipping. Rental companies do this sometime, gas pumps, etc. So only the shipped charges will be posted. Although the 17.83 isn't the total with tax for either shoe.
I got charged the 110.36 initially, which has since been reversed and 2 separate charges totalling the 110.36 have been added.

Because the trick is to buy the cheapest item ending in $X.98 as your "first item" and then the more expensive $X.88 item gets 75% off. Otherwise, those $X.88 flip flops will be discounted instead of the more expensive item. Try it out.
No I was able to add both of these shoes and still get the shoes discounted instead of the flip flops. Try it yourself:

NO.
Back in the day, couldn't cabbies do that where they run your card and enter whatever tip you write down... and then when you leave they'd enter a higher tip amount.

Garbage industry.

Well they did charge my credit card after sending a "payment update" email. So yes, apparently they can.

They seem to have caught on however they only reduced the hiking shoes from $59.88 to $30.55 instead of $12.72 (before tax). So they reduced the discount from approx 75% to 50% on the more expensive item so still somewhat of a deal but significantly less hot than before.

Do they? To each their own I guess but I frankly can't tell the difference between the Hammonds or either of those flip flops. That said, I concur...if I were to buy any flip flops, I'd certainly wear them myself too

They upcharged you on your credit card, on an amount higher than your receipt?

That's a recipe for mass returns.

Whatever happened, they CANNOT just go ahead and charge you an additional amount without your authorization. Something bad might be brewing for us here folks. Fiasco on the horizon.

Here's the brass tax, folks. They may be authorizing the full amount before discounts and deciding what to charge after...

... Gents want to pop-open their credit card online transactions and take a look.

Let's avoid disaster.

the more expensive ones also have more of a contour on the footbed and padding inside the "straps"...this will arguably be a lot more comfortable as well compared to the cheaper ones.

I checked my banking just now, original transactions and nothing more, but I also made the purchases when this thread was only 1 or 2 pages long haha
