Been wanting to get into hiking, would these be a good start or should I splurge for a pair of Salomon Men's X Ultra 3 GTX?

if you are hiking algonquin trails, these are more then enough. if you are going on a 5 day trek in Peru, then you might want to spend a bit more.

Can these be used as a good winter boot? My feet are generally pretty warm as it is so I don't need crazy insulation.

This is exactly what I was looking for and definitely the right price. We do hikes around local trails, and when they are wet like they have been recently, needed something like this, especially with the diverse terrain including rocks, soil, grass, crush, etc.

Thanks OP!!

Typically winter boots use different rubber. Many hiking boots will have no traction when it's really cold (on hard surfaces like concrete.) I cant speak to these specifically but that was my experience with other hiking boots

Don't forget the virgin discount as well. Came to $33.41 with tax in BC.

I have used these as a winter boot for 2 seasons now and they've held up insanely well.

These boots go on sale for this price every year.

I bought them after seeing them on redflagdeals years ago.

For 40 bucks, using them for 2 seasons, they've already done their job imo.

I just got them covered in mud, sand and water the other day. My feet stayed dry, and I couldn't believe how easy they were to clean up.

Thanks OP...in for a pair. I've been using HiTec hiking boots for years. IMHO they are very underrated and tend to go on sale for great prices (like this) once or twice a year. HiTec hikers always fit my feet well and stand up to a lot of punishment (including twice daily dog walks). Every couple of months you may want to give them a spray with s good boot waterproofing. It doesn't seem to hurt.

Anyone else having problems buying with gift cards? It says "Cannot add the same gift card number multiple times". I've used the card before but there is still a balance remaining on it.

EDIT: I tried a fresh card with $50 on it and now get "Remaining order amount is not eligible for gift card payment."
