Cool, good deal. Smarter option than the points bonus since the points value is always gonna be in question until this is all over. (and you can stack this whatever corona promo is going on at the time of booking, while points deals are a bit rare)

And if you've a amex bonvoy card, you actually earn the (5x) hotel multiplier on these, as they are sold directly by marriott, not a third party. Though they charge in USD, so lose 2.5% forex on the cad bonvoy, so US bonvoy card is ideal.

Word of caution though:
I've used these and the vast majority of marriotts 7000+ properties don't actually have a way to process them yet. (no way to scan a egift card or enter it into their systems). Tons even can't do physical giftcards.

Generally it involves them asking everyone if anyone knows how to do it, finding no one does even the manager, than a lengthy call to corporate to get it processed. So best to mention it at the start of the stay to give them some time to try to get it sorted. Not so fun at checkout when you gotta catch a flight.

Really other than the most up to date marriott branded properties in north america you should expect they won't know how to process it. And in NA, non pure marriotts, like say a autograph or luxury collection, they won't either. They might even tell you ,well were not a marriott, you cant use that (The terms state you can use it anywhere except: Bvlgari Hotels, Design Hotels™,Homes & Villas by Marriott International™,and The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club®... But it's not always easy).

Can't use it on pre paid rate makes this cool, or even cold.
