Mastercard chargeback on Amazon?

We bought a bed story mattress from amazon. 3.8 favorable reviews and $112 price, we thought it would be used as a topper at worst. After 48 hours wait to expand, the thing is beyond terrible. We couldn't sleep on it for more than 3 hours (we're LBS 190 &120}.

Amazon says sorry there is nothing we can do.

There are 3 prolific amazon shoppers here and our returns are not abusive by any measure. Amazon CR said someone will get back to us after 48 hours but no one did.

Can we ask MasterCard for a charge back?

Thank you.

no, this is not a chargeback situation. you got your mattress, so you got what you paid for. This is a customer satisfaction issue that you should take up with the manufacturer if amazon won't take it (they have zero obligation to anyways)

Amazon's A to Z warranty applies when Amazon is shipping.

At minimum, you're allowed to return within 30 days (unless it specifically says you can't return it).

Contact an Amazon customer service rep (a drone from India...), they should arrange return shipping.

We chatted with them and the first rep was all helpful and apologetic. He handed the conversation to a "specialist" and the tone completely change from helpful to dismissive.

Interesting... I've had the same experience. Less interested in what I was actually saying; when their own documentation/records were contradicting...

UPDATE:

Just tried Amazon chat and phone and issue has been settled. Refund issued and mattress can be donated or disposed of. I will not donate this mattress and be cursed by whoever will have the misfortune of sleeping on it. Garbage mattress belongs in garbage.

I'm happy you had a good resolution.
yes, the Amazon reps (robots!) will often times give scripted answers. You just have to try again and again, until satisfaction.

A to z warranty means you deal with manufacturer/seller first and then Amazon if you can't resolve it . Iv done a to z returns and always dealt with manufacturer/seller as the product is sent back t them and they often don't include return shipping for returns

We bought a Bedstory mattress from Amazon for our guest room and it is good. We did let it expand for a couple days though. So maybe you got a dud. Glad that it worked out. I find Amazon customer service is great.

Just mark it as doesn't match product description or not expected/described etc. The return is always free then

Trust me, you didn't buy what we bought https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07XHQ ... UTF8&psc=1.
We let it expand over 48 hours. Woke up after 3 hours with pains from coils sticking into our bodies. Just terrible.
I'm happy you like yours.

No we didn’t. We bought a 12 inch. That’s a big difference from 6. Your size is more suitable for a children’s mattress that has a lower weight rating.

I know everyone had a budget but bed is probably the one item you don’t want to be cheap on. Given how much time you will spend on it, it’s more important to get something comfortable than the cheapest deal. Honestly it’s one of the few items I wouldn’t buy online given you will likely be returning them a lot. Going to a mattress store is generally the best option (tho with covid it becomes more complicated).

Glad you got your refund. This wouldn’t be a chargeback situation since chargeback only applies if you never got the package or the item you got wasn’t what you order (satisfaction has nothing to do with chargeback).

Ron.
We bought a $112 "mattress" that had good reviews thinking it would be a mattress topper until we could actually go into a store and try out a replacement, when it is safe enough to do so. Comfort would have been nice but we ended up with an instrument of torture. A lesson was learned about reviews: when leaving or reading a review, make sure the review addresses specific product and not company.
